The coins reverse symbolises Broome a magnet for visitors offering winter warmth and an intoxicating blend of history romance and indulgence. From the 1880s European Asian and indigenous Australians flocked to Roebuck Bay on the northwest coast in search of pearls and personal fortunes. Their pearling adventures and the fascinating melting pot of cultures they created still flavour the charismatic town. The reverse design portrays a coloured pearl shell containing four white pearls on a beach. As well as a lugger at sea the design also incorporates The Perth Mints traditional P mintmark and the yeardate. Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965 the coin depicts Ian RankBroadleys effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse. The coin is housed in a superb presentation case with a lid made from Australian sheoak timber. The case comes in a protective outer shipper featuring Discover Australias distinctive logo. The coin is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. The Perth Mint will release no more than 7500 of these coins worldwide.
