For the first time since decimalisation Britain is changing the designs on its 1 50p 20p 10p 5p 2p and 1p legal tender coins. To mark this watershed in numismatic history the Royal Mint has issued a limited edition Brilliant Uncirculated Emblems of Britain Collection featuring the classic designs that have in most cases served Britain for more than 35 years. The seven 2008dated coins are struck in their base metal alloys to brilliant uncirculated quality. Arnold Machins specially commissioned decimal portrait of HM Queen Elizabeth II graces the obverse of each coin. No more than 100000 Brilliant Uncirculated Collections will ever be produced.
